My Life in the Garbage

That's right, you heard me correctly. As you may have noticed in my previous blog (my only other blog) that I had lived with my grandmother before. It was actually 4 years ago I think? Anyways, after I moved out there was a lot of stuff that I had left in the house. I had no where to put it. She didn't mind that I left it there she knew I would come get it. Well, she died two years ago this December. Her son, my uncle, was left living in the house. I had called to come get my stuff with no calls back.

Today, I went with my brother to get my stuff and found most of it on a front porch....it had been sitting there for two years apparently. By front porch I mean wide open to the elements...rain, snow, spiders, etc. My son's school art projects, old toys, puzzles, books (that I could have given to my youngest son) all ruined. I had to toss most of it in the garbage because it was beyond saving.

I don't mean to bring the blogging world down but it really got me down. These were my personal belongings, my life, just tossed out basically like garbage.

Blogging does make you feel better, just to get things off your chest. I promise my next blog will be on a happier note!

Getting to Know You Carnival/First Blog

This is my first blog posting, I don't really know what I'm doing but here it goes. I got this idea from my friend Liz and the rules are as follows:

Each player answers the question themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment letting them know that they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve answered the questions on your blog.

She added instead of having people be tagged that they could basically tag themselves using Mr. Linky (which I haven't attempted yet).

10 Years Ago I...(1998):

1. moved to South Kingstown to live with my grandmother and grandfather

2. worked at the Sunflower (next to parking for the Block Island Ferry) during the summer and made LOTS of money - I had none by the end of the summer

3. watched a lot of Veggie tales and Blue's Clues - I had a 2 year old

4. was enrolled in URI's Accounting program

5. got divorced.

5 Things on Today's "To Do List":

1. Go get things from my grandmother's house

2. Do laundry

3. Attempt to figure out this blog AND Mr. Linky

4. Go to Hallmark to buy more thank you notes

5. Finish my thank you notes

5 Places I lived:

1. Cranston

2. South Kingstown

3. North Kingstown

4. West Warwick

5. Narragansett

5 jobs I have had:

1. I worked at a liquor store when I was 18, this was the first paying job I ever had, the owner didn't like me and picked on me everyday, so I quit on a Saturday night (their busiest night, liquor stores weren't open on Sundays at that time)

2. I worked as a waitress at the Sunflower, it was a seafood restaurant in Galilee. My brother's now wife got me the job, we had a lot of fun and I made lots of money as I stated before

3. Narragansett Library - I worked with Liz!! Of course I was stuck in the back covering books a lot because "I did it so well"

4. Women and Infants' Hospital - This was my internship. I loved it! I did grant accounting so I got to learn about the different research the doctor's were doing.

5. Universal Properties - I was a bookkeeper for a developer. They are the creators of Centre of New England, the Home Depot/Olive Garden Plaza and the Dick's Sporting Goods Plaza (to name a few)

I could not figure out Mr. Linky, I will have to wait until Liz gets back from Vermont and get a crash course
